Kid’s Ministry
Buffalo born, Florida raised—the best of both worlds.
I grew up in church. My father was a pastor—we even had church out of our home at one point.
When I was 11, I started baby-sitting on my own and working in our church’s nursery. Even at my young age, I was always more than just a helper in class. I noticed I had a special connection with the kids.
At 23, I was asked to run the church’s nursery. Long story short, I ended up teaching the 6-11 year old class. It was my first time getting to experience leading worship, lessons, activities, and VBS. The four years I held that position solidified a passion for children’s church as a whole that I didn’t know I would ever have.
I took a break from serving after those four years and focused on myself and my own relationship with the Lord. About two years later, my husband’s job moved us and our four children to North Carolina. I found Turning Point Church during the pandemic of 2020 looking for an outlet in a state where we knew no one. I stayed after the first visit—never even bothered to try anywhere else.
Cheryl actually recruited me one random Wednesday Overflow night, not even knowing me or my background. I had no intention of becoming involved so soon or possibly at all in church again, but I prayed about it and ended up helping out in the K-5th grade class. A few months later, I took on the role of overseeing the Junior classes.
It’s been almost four years attending TPC, one year running the Children’s Church Juniors, a part of the Ladies Ministry team, and I can happily say I know I am exactly where God wants me to be!
